Gina Rodriguez has been hitting the red carpet quite frequently this awards season. And she manages to look stunning each and every single time.

The Jane the Virgin star attended the 87th Academy Awards last night, and makeup artist Carissa Ferreri gave us all the details on how to look as gorgeous as Rodriguez. Ferreri says she wanted to create a soft, whimsical makeup look that would tie the overall look together. She paired smokey eyes and a bronze palette to complement her skin tone.

Skin Care: “I always love to prep the skin first, so I began with the Mary Kay TimeWise® Age- Fighting Moisturizer to moisturize and help give her that dewy finish. I also applied the Mary Kay Indulge® Soothing Eye Gel to combat any puffiness.  I prepped the lips with the Mary Kay Satin Lips® Lip Balm.”

Foundation: To create Gina’s flawless, dewy complexion, Ferreri created a custom blend foundation using Mary Kay’s TimeWise® Luminous-Wear® Liquid Foundation in beige 8 mixed with a touch bronze 1.

Ferreri contoured with Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder on the forehead and cheekbones.  She swiped Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color in Sunny Spice across the cheeks and applied Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color in Sparkling Cider to the apples of Gina’s cheeks.  “The Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Powder in Sparkling Cider has a slight shimmer.  I applied it to the apples of her cheeks to really catch the light and give her a luminescent glow.”

Ferreri applied Mary Kay® Lip Liner in Soft Blush all over the lip.  She topped off with Mary Kay® True Dimensions® Sheer Lipstick in Subtly You.  She finished with the Mary Kay At Play®Jelly Lip Gloss in Teddy Bare on the center of the lip to make the lip look full.

Get the Look: Celebrity hairstylist Paul Norton gave Gina a sophisticated and timeless up do for the 2015 Academy Awards. “Gina’s hair is versatile, she can look great with any hairstyle but today we wanted to give her a glamorous look for the Oscars,” said Norton.

  • First, Norton prepped damp hair with John Frieda Frizz Ease Beyond Smooth Frizz-Immunity Primer to create the perfect foundation for a frizz-free hairstyle. Then he blew out her hair with a small round boar bristle brush until it was fully dry.
  • Then, Norton divided her hair into two sections, from ear to ear, clipping the back part out of the way and set hot rollers to the center front section to add in fullness and volume. He clipped the side front sections temporarily.
  • Next, Norton pulled the back section into a low sleek side ponytail. To avoid flyaways, he applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Expert Finish Polishing Serum. Norton sprayed the ponytail with John Frieda KeraFORCE Intense Hold Hairspray and braided it and secured it with an elastic. He then twisted the braid while forming a bun and secured it with French hair pins. Once the back was completed, Norton worked on the front side sections, sweeping each side section over the bun  and secured  with bobby pins.
  • Finally, Norton removed the hot curlers from the front section and brushed through the top with a mason pearson brush and back-combed hair gently to add the right amount of fullness. He finished the look by anchoring the top section of the hair to the back with bobby pins and secured the entire look with a few more sprays of John Frieda KeraFORCE Intense Hold Hairspray.
