Lauren Jaurgeui is feeling "confident and vibrant" for a very personal reason.
The Fifth Harmony singer spoke to British newspaper The Sun about her experience coming out as bisexual, explaining that it has had a positive effect on her life. "For me, coming into my own and being comfortable with myself really changed me as a person. And made me more confident and vibrant," the 20-year-old said. In November, the singer penned an open essay to Donald Trump, revealing that she's so proud of her roots and her sexual orientation.
Aside from her personal growth since the announcement, Jauregui also explained that it's helped her Harmonizers, too. "A bunch of my fans have come up to me and said, ‘Because of you and because you came out, I have finally begun to accept myself.’ That is infinitely incredible for me," she said. "I didn’t expect to get to the point where I would own up to it within myself."
Around the same time that Jauregui came out, a photo of the 5H member kissing a girl was leaked. Fans took to Twitter to express their support for her, claiming that she deserves privacy and acceptance, regardless of the situation. Last month, the singer teamed up with Halsey for a song called "Strangers", which tells the story of an ex-girlfriend gone cold. “I just love that Lauren and I are two women who have a mainstream pop presence doing a love song for the LGBTQ community,” the singer said. “It’s unheard of. It’s very rare to see it from a female perspective.”
