It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Cameron Diaz. Sure, she has been open about her relationship with hubby Benji Madden, but we haven’t seen the actress on the big screen since 2014, with her appearance in "Annie."
Diaz finally came clean on her “Hollywood disappearance” at this weekend’s Goop Wellness Summit. "I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself,' which is a hard thing to face up to," she said, on nonstop traveling for work for two years straight. "I felt the need to make myself whole." The 44-year-old appeared on the panel, hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow, alongside Tory Burch, Miranda Kerr and sister-in-law Nicole Richie.
Aside from her temporary career hiatus, Diaz also opened up about the importance of her marriage. "I think it's a matter of I just hadn't met my husband, you know? I had boyfriends before. And there's a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends,” she explains. “And I have a husband who is just my partner in life and in everything. Talk about two very different people! We are so different from one another, but we share the same values—we're totally two peas in a pod. We are both just weird enough for each other."
Richie, too, knows a thing or two about the couple’s chemistry, being that the friends turned into family when she married Benji’s brother, Joel Madden. "They rely on each other. When we got together it was like, you're just in the family. It's a large support system,” she said. Diaz added: “I never experienced that before. I'd never been loved in that way," on the support she has received from Madden.
Hopefully, we’ll see more of our girl Cameron in the coming months.
